Gygax’s Ghost aka T. F. Smith returns to go on a deep dive with settembrini (who just finished the whole of it) on the vaunted TOEE. We go from the conceptual to the nitty-gritty detail of individual rooms, encounter design and textual archeology, seperating the Gygaxian wheat from the Mentzerian chaff.

Well done both for a highly entertaining and informative chat, a fine companion piece to Trent’s blog posts. Maybe you should both be given the Gygax’s Ghost sobriquet: Trent for his writing, and Settembrini for refereeing. A stellar job in using Greyhawk lore and even extrapolating from the Welcome Wench menu to make the whole more coherent. In play one aspect I enjoyed was the party trying to keep treasure hauls secret from unfriendly eyes in Nulb; after the safety of Hommlet, it was a good contrast.
Thanks for the praise!
Another thing not fully mentioned is how Nulb also is more sexual than Homlett. But of course has more temple eyes, so you did well Also, we missed the Fragarach debate and some other stuff.
